Though innumerable films of late have delved into the extreme poverty that besets the cities of Brazil, "La Rina (The Pit)” unmasks the polar opposite: the twisted world of S„o Paulo's young elite, where the rich and entitled live by their own rules. Based on a true story, "La Rina" introduces us to Patrick, a sociopathic playboy who stages bare-knuckle wrestling matches inside an empty swimming pool (“the pit”), where his friends -- the children of diplomats, politicians and businessman -- bet small fortunes on life-or-death outcomes.
