CINEDULCE SHOWCASE
1 DAY is a high-octane caper through a day in the life of an inner-city hustler. The film follows Flash, whose day gets steadily worse when he finds out he suddenly has to repay a debt… fast. The film follows Flash’s race against the clock, as he is pursued by everyone from a rival gang, the police, three irate baby-mothers and his grandmother. Directed by art-house director Penny Woolcock, 1 DAY is described by some as the British "Boyz In The Hood" and dubbed Britain’s first "Hip Hop Musical".
INTERNATIONAL FEATURES
In this ambitious sci-fi film, Villaparaiso (formely Mexico) is ruled by a totalitarian regime led by General Jamaro. Jamaro is also the president of Phaarmax, a company that produces an addictive beverage that can control the minds of the working class. Their fate rests on the shoulders of Pablo, a young man born into privilege, who awakens to the truth and joins the revolutionary movement. Partly inspired by the Cristero War, "2033" is boldly allegorical and richly designed, heralding the arrival of a visionary filmmaker.

Adalberto, a port employee with unwavering ethical standards, is about to retire. His new young boss, Silva, is an avid collector of an old literary magazine, "Tertulias." To make his collection complete, Silva needs but one issue: #48 -- which Adalberto happens to own. And refuses to sell. Not giving up, the boss makes a series of lavish offers, which, to his amazement, Adalberto keeps turning down. It seems the old retiree is intent on teaching this "yuppie" that "not everything has a price tag." NEW YORK PREMIERE
DOCUMENTARIES
A young Latino man, William Caballero, juggles unconditional family love with the challenges of breaking the cycle that has kept so many relatives from reaching their dreams. Set against a backdrop of Coney Island and Fayetteville, North Carolina, an NYU graduate student turns the camera on his Puerto Rican-American family plagued by social, medical and public health issues. U.S. health care and culture is examined through this young man's lens, which also explores both his and family’s dreams. Many immigrants in the U.S. aspire to achieve the American dream and this Latino family comprised of immigrants to second-generation Americans is no different. As subjective as the barometer of reaching this goal is, the film begs the ultimate question: who attains their American dream? WORLD PREMIERE
